This street is famous and unique because of the buildings that located along the street. Most of the buildings have old-fashioned looks. Not only the buildings, the street’s elements such as the street lamp and pedestrian walk are designed with old-fashioned and classic style too. These things make the Braga street brings the classic atmosphere everytime we walk along this street.

Water Circulation for Households

The water circulation at house is not as complicated as we think. First, the groundwater is pumped into the main water tank. This water is not sterilized yet, so it will be flown into the water filter to get the sterilization process. Then, the water can be supplied properly into the house. In the house, the water is divided into two ways of pipes. First pipe goes to the wash and toilet devices, flown the cold water. The water that flows to these devices is ready to use. The other pipe goes to the cold water tank. From this tank, it will goes to the hot water tank. In this tank, the water is heated so it becomes the hot water. Then, it’s ready to be distributed to devices that equipped with hot water tap such as sink, bath, and wash basin.

Clean Water In a House

Clean water supply which is relatively cold in the house is coming from the underground water main. This water drained off to the cold water tank – rarely situated on the top of the house. From this reservoir, water is flown to taps, toilets, and hot water tank. Hot water tank is a complex machine that can heat the water and keep it hot. Then, hot water is from this stuff flown to all taps in the house.

Lapangan Merdeka

Merdeka Field, known as Lapangan Merdeka in Indonesian, as the biggest open areas in my hometown, Medan, has been functioned for many formal or informal events. Since this semi rounded-shape field is surrounded by many hundred-year trees, it is comfortable to jog in the morning or evening times. Besides uses as a jogging track, this field also popular as concert venue in Medan, especially outdoor concert. Not only as a concert venue, but it is also a great venue for many religious or governmental events because of its large capacity. Moreover, local government nowadays has tried to reorganize this massive field in order to create some new functions in this field. Some of them which have been successfully created are the food stalls area in the northern part of the field and the book stores area in the southern. Hence, this large field has become a vital place for citizen activities.

water distribution in housing

In order to have a hot-water-bath in the house, the cold water from the mains need to be collected in the cold water tank which is located in the roof part of the house. In this process, cold water will pass a pipe which start from mains and end in the cold water tank. While the cold water is flowing through the pipe into its tank, it can also be flown through many other cold water pipes which output in the sink, bath, wash basin, or toilet in the house. After it reach the cold water tank, some part of this cold water will be flown and collected in the hot water tank in the second floor of the house. At there, the cold water will be heated into hot water. The hot water which come out from there will be distributed through the hot water pipes into the sink, bath, or wash basin in the entire house.

Water Distribution in Our Houses

Here is the process of water distribution in our houses. First, the water from Municipal Water Corporation or from well is brought into the houses via main pipe. Then, the main pipe branches to the cold water tank and some water excretion points, such as toilets, wash basins, bath tubs, and sinks. Afterwards, the water from cold water tank flows to the hot water tank. Then, the water is heated here. After being heated, the hot water is distributed to the water excretion points. Thus, there are two kinds of water in the water excretion points, they are cold water and hot water.

Tempoyak, Unique Food from Bengkulu

One of unique food from my hometown, Bengkulu, is tempoyak. The people in other provinces usually don’t know tempoyak. Therefore, I will introduce tempoyak to all of the people who live in other provinces in Indonesia, especially for durian fans. Tempoyak is a food with durian as its main substance. The durian is fermented with salt for two days. Then, it will be mixed with other substances. Other substances of tempoyak are milled garlic, onion, chili, and turmeric, milk squeezed from coconut, sugar and a little salt. We can add some tiny sea fishes or shrimps into it. As it is consists of those substances, tempoyak is soft like durian, its color is orange like turmeric, it tastes sour, sweet, and hot. Tempoyak can add the appetite of food. That’s why the people in Bengkulu like it very much.

Gambang Semarang

Having watch the movie of “ Ca-Bau-Kan”, I became remember to the music they used as a background. The music was one of the unique, yet ethnical music of Semarang. This music knowned as “Gambang Semarang”. The word of Gambang was taken from Javaneese word mean the group of Javaneese music instrument ,such as gong, bonang, and kendang. Based on the word definiton,it can be conclude that Gambang Semarang mean a group of Javaneese music instrument played in Semarangan style.

What do we mean by Semarangan here is refer to the style of culture they had. Those style is very identic with combination of Javaneese and oriental style,in which Semarang’s style of culture is very much influenced by Chineese. It makes Gambang Semarang being one of a result from culture assimilation of oriental and natives. So that, gambang Semarang adapt the oriental style of music into Javaneese style, while the form of assimilation can be noticed at the way of the instrument used combined and the choreopgraphy involved in it. The music instrument used on Gambang Semarang isn’t only the traditional instrument of Java but also they add violin and cello,as the strings instrument for enriched the oriental sense. Meanwhile, the choreography occasionally used on it is one of Semarang’s traditional dance called “Congkek”. This dance is quite contemporer, because the appearance looks very oriental but the gesture is quite traditional. Although it belongs to contemporer dance,it still reflect the natives culture.

Based on the choreography involved and the music played on Gambang Semarang ,seemed to be that those “traditional orchestra group” belong to the contemporer art of performances.

Water within The House

There are several steps on how the water reaches the house and its distribution within the house. Generally , within the house, there are several pipes place ,in order to maintain the distribution of water to the certain part of house. Those pipes set into different part of house, such as the kitchen (on first floor), bath room (on second floor) and the cold water tank (on the loft).
The process how the water reaches the house begin on the ground, in which every house has the main as a water resources on the ground. First, the water in the main is pumped through the main pipe to the house. Then, through this main pipe, water will be distribute among all pipes within the house. The pipes within the house divide into several section : The pipes that flowed into the sink ,which is in the kitchen, then the pipes flow to the bathroom and the last, the pipes that goes through to the cold water tank on the loft.Next, the water in each part of the section will be distribute again into the several devices that need cold water supply, such as in the bathroom, water will be distributed into the bath tub, toilet and wash basin then the water in the kitchen goes directly to the sink.Meanwhile, the water that goes to the cold water tank, will be flowed on to the hot water tank. In this tank, cold water will be heated into hot water .After the hot water set up, for distribute those water into the bathroom and kitchen, there are several pipes set in the tank. Those pipes goes directly on to the bathroom and the kitchen. In the bathroom, the hot water feeds the wash basin and the bathtub, while in the kitchen, the hot water will feeds the sink.
Either the hot or the cold water, if they already used, the wasted water will be flowed on to certain pipes. These pipes collect the wasted water from the kitchen and bathroom. Then, it will be flowed on to the sanitary plumb.

Rumah Betang

I come from Pontianak, West Kalimantan. In my hometown, I really interested with unique house building. This house called Rumah Betang. Rumah Betang is one of unique house in Indonesia that used by dayaknesse to live and protect them from wild animals attact. As we know Kalimantan surrounded by a large number of forest, so there must be a lot of wild animals live in this island. Dayaknesse live in the forest and build Rumah Betang. Rumah Betang is very high house, and to reach the house they use stair. If all the occupant of the house was come together, they will take the stair.

Rumah Betang is made by Belian woods. Belian is strong woods from Kalimantan, people usually called it Iron wood. Rumah Betang decorated by dayaknesse ornament.

flow water system

The water reaches the house from the mains pipe in the down part of the house. Water from the mains pipe flow to the sink and the cold water tank in the upstair. The water from the mains pipe also flow into toilet, water basin and bath tub.Water from the cold water tank flow the water into the hot water tank. In hot water tank , cold water proceed into hot water. The hot water also flow into the sink in the downstair, bathtub, wash basin, and toilet. This house completed by two tap, first tap to flow the cold water and the other tap to flow the hot water.

Water Distribution in A House

Water distribution in a house comes out from one source, the mains, which is ground-water. Generally, the hot and the cold water distribution are similar. First of all, the cold water tank takes water from the mains. Then, this water is distributed into the whole part of the house, such as the bathroom part and the sink. On the bathroom, this cold water is used for the bath tub, wash basin, and the toilet. While this cold water process occurs, the hot water is also being distributed within the house at the same time. From the cold water tank, some of the water is distributed into the hot water tank. In the hot water tank, the water is being transformed into hot water through the heating process. After the water becomes hot, this hot water is distributed into the bathroom to be used for the bath tub and the toilet. Moreover, the hot water will also be distributed to the sink.

Water Distribution

Water flows to the houses by passing through many processes. First, it comes from the earth by being pumped through the pipes to the main water tanks which spread around the house (bath tub, sink, kitchen, etc). Its temperature is the same with earths. In that tanks, it flows into two other tanks; hot tank, and cold tank. In hot tank, it is heated by the help of solar power which use the energy from the light of the sun. It is kept in that tank and will be reheated continuously. The same process is happened in the other tank. But it's different from the final temperature. The solar power cools the water off, not heat it. After all of the processes is finished, the water is already to used.

Karedok

Karedok is a unique food from West Java. It is a raw vegetable. But this definition is too general to understand. To make the definition clear, let’s take a look what it is made from. Karedok, one of the most popular West Java food, is made from ingredients, such as cucumber, bean sprouts, cabbage, legumes, kemangi (Thai Basil leaf), and egg plant. And the dressing is made from red pepper, kencur, cabai rawit, galingale, peanuts, brackish water, palm sugar, salt, and terasi. Every part of these ingredients has a unique taste, like sweet, a little bit bitter, sour, etc. The combination from the vegetables in karedok gives specific taste, appetizing, and interesting, so it will be unforgettable if you eat this special food. It has similarity with gado-gado, but the vegetables in karedok are cooked raw. Beside of this unique, karedok has a plus point that makes you won’t regret to eat it, complete nutrition value

Water Distribution

First, water is absorbed from the earth and pumped to wash basin, bath tub, toilet, and sink for cold water usage. Some of the water is also pumped to hot water tank to be processed. After get processed, the hot water is kept in the hot water tank. Then, whenever hot water usage is needed, the hot water will be distributed to wash basin, bath tub, and sink.

Gudeg

Do you know gudeg? A famous Jogjakarta's special dish. Made from a jackfruit sliced in dice pieces, this dish has a tendency on being sweet rather than being spicy. Its dark redish-brown color doesn't really increase your appetite in the first look. But when you've try it, you'll imagine the sweet yet spicy redish-brown color in the second view. Considering it from a jackfruit and it is steamed, it has a kind of smooth texture. On the first chew, you can feel the watery taste melting to your tongue, adding some powder-like sensation to your tongue. The taste that most tourist search when coming to Jogjakarta.

Heated water and cold water's circulation

In a home with water heater, they differ the water tap into two. One for hot tap and another for a cold one. Each tap has its own circulation. Even though, both has the same source, water tap/reservoir.
For a hot tap, the pipe goes out of the reservoir towards a heater, spinning inside th pipe of the heater and it goes to the highest hot tap in the house. Then, from the highest place, it is distributed down, to a basin, closet, and a bathtub in the second floor. After that, on the next floor, it is distributed only to a sink. Last, leftovers from first and second floor goes to the sewage.
Not quite different from the hot one, the cold one goes to the reservoir too. After that, from the reservoir, the pipe goes directly to the highest cold tap in the house--basin, closet, and a bathtub. Then, the remaining pipe heads to the first floor, to a sink. And finally it goes out to the sewage.

Hot and Cold Water Distribution

The water reaches the house as cold water. Cold water supplied by mains. The cold water supplied the fixtures through the cold water pipes. Some of cold water up to roof top to reach the solar water heater. The function of solar water heater is to catch the light and heat of sun and use it to warm the cold water become hot water. The hot water which out from solar water heater will flow through the pipe then will enter the hot water tank. Hot water tank will flow through the hot water pipes to supply fixtures. The hot water tank and all hot water pipes covered by rubber foam and aluminum foil called heat insulation. Heat insulation protect heat loss from hot water, so the hot water will still hot.

'Gedung Sate'

‘Gedung Sate’ is a famous building which being an icon of West Java. This building was built in 1924-1929 designed by J.Gerber. The Water Distribution on Houses

Water distribution system is not as simple as we can see. The water goes through several pipes between the main source into our house. The plumbers professionally design the position of this pipes nicely. The pipes themselves are hidden under the ground and inside the walls. When the water reaches houses, water flows into two main parts that has a different distribution way, they are the hot water and the cold water.

Now let us follow the journey of cold water on our house. Water is coming from the main source, and flow through all of the facilities on houses that are needed water, it could be sink, toilet, wash basin, or bath tab. Some people could have water spreader or water pouring system for their garden, then the pipes must be split again for this. Every houses usually has a cold water tank, it is for keeping the emergency water whenever it doesn’t come from the mains. This is the last destination of the cold water on our house.

Another function of cold water tank is to give water supply to the hot water tank. Hot water tank is a tank used to heat water, it contain water heater inside its system. Not all houses have a hot water tank. It spend more money to buy the water heater, and water heater also using gas to heat water. Water is kept inside the tank before it is heated. Then, the hot water is distributed among all of the water facilities on houses. People usually set the hot water on sink, wash basin, and bath tab.

Rawon, the black soup

Speaking about the traditional food in Bandung, maybe we can’t add Rawon on the list. I don’t really know where it is come from exactly. The reason I want to discuss about Rawon is because this is my favourite food which is cooked by my sister herself. There are various type of cooking Rawon. It depend on how do a cook want to build the taste. Rawon actually only a sweet soup with meat as its primary substance. It served with vegetables, such as carrot, stringbeans, and beansprout. One that makes it so different is the colour of the soup, it is black. This black colour is coming from the spices. The composition of spices that darken the colour of the soup is called ‘keluak’, the fruits of the kepayang tree. It is small and has a round shape before it is crushed with another spices. A cook usually mix it with onion, ginger, ‘ketumbar’, and then they add salt, sugar, or monosodium glutamate to make a perfect taste. Rawon is a perfect dishes to eat with rice. A good Rawon can be seen also on its meat, more tender the meat on the soup, the better the taste of the Rawon.

HOUSE WATER SYSTEM

HOUSE WATER SYSTEM

Water distribution is start from the source. It flowed through the pipe installation by high pressure into the house. In the house, the installation is separated to be 2 lines. First line are flowing to the hot water reception centre / heater, else are flowing to the cooler device. In each station, water will be conditioned until reach the optimum temperature. Each station flow the optimum water to many output such as bath, toilet, wash basin, and sink. So, for each device has 2 outputs, the hot water output and the cool one. When we want to use the hot water, we just activate the hot output without disturb the cool system because each device actually are combination of two lines which is planted on the same place. That’s why there are two faucets on each device.

Kacimuih

Kacimuih or Kecimus is one of the local traditional delicacies of Minangkabau people in West Sumatra Province. While most traditional delicacies in Minangkabau taste spicy, Kecimus tastes sweet, piquant, and has a strong coconut flavor. No wonder it tastes like that because it is made of mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar and coconut meat. It is often mixed with screw-pine leaves and a slight amount of salt. Other than that, kacimuih is served in a small plate and rain with threaded coconut milk, which makes the coconut flavor stronger. Sometimes it is added other sweeteners for taste preference such as cinnamon, vanilla or brown palm sugar.

Water Distribution to House Outlets

Watering My House

Every house has its own water system. Usually the clean water enters our home by tank or pipes which lay lower then the ground. To reach upper levels, water would be pumped up. Here is a description of how water gets into the taps of our house. It describes only one system of many others water system.

The clean water pumped up through the rising main to reach the house. First branch of the rising main feeds the cold water tap of the sink while the next branches feed outside tap and other cold water taps in the first floor. Then the rising main rises water to the upper floor. In this floor, the cold water flowed to feed the bathroom tap, wash basin tap, toilet and other cold water taps in the second floor. Last branch of the rising main stores cold water into a storage called cold water tank in the loft.

To provide hot water, the cold water from the tank flowed into a boiler in the second floor called hot water tank. Pipes from the hot water tank branched to feed the hot water taps. The first branch flowed water to the taps in the second floor (the nearest ones). It feeds the hot water tap of the bath sink, wash basin, and other taps in the second floor. The second branch of the hot water pipe comes down to the first floor to feed the hot water tap of the sink and others in the same floor.

Surely Unique

Saksang is simply defined as “a pork dish cooked in pork blood”. Actually, it isn’t that simple. Saksang is one of the Bataknese dish. It would be served in almost every event of Bataknese because most of their rituals include meal.

The original saksang contains pork meat, pork blood mixed with spice such as onions, pepper, ginger, chilly, and andaliman. Andaliman is a specific spice which create the unique taste of saksang. We can find amount of this plant in Tapanuli, where Bataknese came from. Saksang is usually served as chopped meat in thick soup of spicy blood.

There are kinds of saksang. If you don’t eat blood, saksang for “The Parsubang “ would be proper for you. When you’re not able to eat pork meat, the main component can be replaced by dog meat or beef meat, etc. There are also some receipts of modified saksang. Receips that made for those who want to eat saksang without eating blood. The thick soup of blood can be replaced with amount fried coconut pieces cooked with certain spice.

Water Distribution in a house

Water distribution in a house is quite simple. It starts from main water supply. It is located beneath the house. The water is still cold. This water is distributed to sink, bath, toilet and all of the house stuff using water through plumbs. Besides that, the water is also kept in the cellar as a stock. Because the water in this stock is still cold, the water will be moved to another stock. This stock will be turned into hot water through some kind of process. After that, the hot water is available to use. Before it is used, the water is kept in the hot water tank. All of this distribution steps happen all the time whenever the water is used

Gado-Gado

Gado-gado is a traditional dish in Indonesian cuisine, and comprises a vegetable salad served with a peanut sauce dressing. It is widely served in hotels and restaurants in Indonesia, and in Indonesian restaurants in other countries, although some opine that the mass-production nature of commercial catering, where food is cooked in bulk at the beginning of the day, has ruined the quality of the dish. The main ingredients are vegetable salad and peanut sauce dressing. With the exceptions of the eggs and the potatoes, the salad may be served raw, although optionally one may blanch some of the vegetables such as the cabbage and the cauliflower. Some cooks prefer to steam the vegetables. The thing that distinguishes gado-gado from a plain vegetable salad is the peanut sauce dressing, which is poured on top of the vegetable salad before serving. The composition of this peanut sauce varies, as well. Some say to just use a commercial Indonesian peanut sauce or satay sauce. Others say to make the sauce oneself. The ingredients of sauce peanut are ground fried peanuts with most of the oil drained off (for which some substitute peanut butter and peanut oil), garlic, palm sugar, red chili sauce, lemon or lime juice.

The water source of this house is from the underground. It means the house use ground water. It was raised perhaps by a machine. After that, the water runs through pipes and is sent to cold water tank at the roof. Before, it reaches the tank; some water is flows to bath, wash basin, and toilet. In cold water tank, the water is in storage. From this cold water tank, the cold water is sent to hot water tank. In hot water tank, the water is heated up into hot water. After that, it is sent to the sink, bath, and wash basin. It means, the inhabitant can use hot and cold water from the bath and wash basin.

Water Distribution

Water distribution at the house starts from main water supply that has cold temperature. The water draws itself up to the sink at the first floor, bath, wash basin, and toilet at the second floor, and also the cold water tank at the cellar.
From the cold water tank at the cellar, the cold water distribute itself to the hot water tank which turns the water temperature from cold to hot. When the water gets hot, again, distribute itself to the sink at the first floor and also the bath, wash basin, and the toilet at the second floor.

The cold and the hot water

The cold and the hot water distribution process in a house isn’t as complicated as we thought. First, the water comes out from the mains beneath the house, the cold one for exact. Then, this cold water is evenly distributed through the plumbs toward the sink, bath, wash basin, and toilet at the first and the second floor of the house. Meanwhile, at the same time, some of this cold water also making their way into the cold water tank which located over the ceiling to be kept as the cold water stock. This cold water stock is meant to be transformed to hot water. But before that happened, the cold water must first be placed to the next tank, the hot water tank. It’s because the required heating processes occurred there. Then, after the cold water has reached the hot water tank, the heating processes begin, and as usual they takes some times. At last, the hot water becomes available and stocked at that tank. Finally, the hot water can be used by the owner of the house through the water tap of the bath, sink, and wash-basin. The steps of this water distribution happened all the times in the house whenever the owner uses the water, either the cold or the hot water.
