The Water Distribution on Houses

Water distribution system is not as simple as we can see. The water goes through several pipes between the main source into our house. The plumbers professionally design the position of this pipes nicely. The pipes themselves are hidden under the ground and inside the walls. When the water reaches houses, water flows into two main parts that has a different distribution way, they are the hot water and the cold water.

Now let us follow the journey of cold water on our house. Water is coming from the main source, and flow through all of the facilities on houses that are needed water, it could be sink, toilet, wash basin, or bath tab. Some people could have water spreader or water pouring system for their garden, then the pipes must be split again for this. Every houses usually has a cold water tank, it is for keeping the emergency water whenever it doesn’t come from the mains. This is the last destination of the cold water on our house.

Another function of cold water tank is to give water supply to the hot water tank. Hot water tank is a tank used to heat water, it contain water heater inside its system. Not all houses have a hot water tank. It spend more money to buy the water heater, and water heater also using gas to heat water. Water is kept inside the tank before it is heated. Then, the hot water is distributed among all of the water facilities on houses. People usually set the hot water on sink, wash basin, and bath tab.

Rawon, the black soup

Speaking about the traditional food in Bandung, maybe we can’t add Rawon on the list. I don’t really know where it is come from exactly. The reason I want to discuss about Rawon is because this is my favourite food which is cooked by my sister herself. There are various type of cooking Rawon. It depend on how do a cook want to build the taste. Rawon actually only a sweet soup with meat as its primary substance. It served with vegetables, such as carrot, stringbeans, and beansprout. One that makes it so different is the colour of the soup, it is black. This black colour is coming from the spices. The composition of spices that darken the colour of the soup is called ‘keluak’, the fruits of the kepayang tree. It is small and has a round shape before it is crushed with another spices. A cook usually mix it with onion, ginger, ‘ketumbar’, and then they add salt, sugar, or monosodium glutamate to make a perfect taste. Rawon is a perfect dishes to eat with rice. A good Rawon can be seen also on its meat, more tender the meat on the soup, the better the taste of the Rawon.

HOUSE WATER SYSTEM

HOUSE WATER SYSTEM

Water distribution is start from the source. It flowed through the pipe installation by high pressure into the house. In the house, the installation is separated to be 2 lines. First line are flowing to the hot water reception centre / heater, else are flowing to the cooler device. In each station, water will be conditioned until reach the optimum temperature. Each station flow the optimum water to many output such as bath, toilet, wash basin, and sink. So, for each device has 2 outputs, the hot water output and the cool one. When we want to use the hot water, we just activate the hot output without disturb the cool system because each device actually are combination of two lines which is planted on the same place. That’s why there are two faucets on each device.

Kacimuih

Kacimuih or Kecimus is one of the local traditional delicacies of Minangkabau people in West Sumatra Province. While most traditional delicacies in Minangkabau taste spicy, Kecimus tastes sweet, piquant, and has a strong coconut flavor. No wonder it tastes like that because it is made of mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar and coconut meat. It is often mixed with screw-pine leaves and a slight amount of salt. Other than that, kacimuih is served in a small plate and rain with threaded coconut milk, which makes the coconut flavor stronger. Sometimes it is added other sweeteners for taste preference such as cinnamon, vanilla or brown palm sugar.

Water Distribution to House Outlets

Watering My House

Every house has its own water system. Usually the clean water enters our home by tank or pipes which lay lower then the ground. To reach upper levels, water would be pumped up. Here is a description of how water gets into the taps of our house. It describes only one system of many others water system.

The clean water pumped up through the rising main to reach the house. First branch of the rising main feeds the cold water tap of the sink while the next branches feed outside tap and other cold water taps in the first floor. Then the rising main rises water to the upper floor. In this floor, the cold water flowed to feed the bathroom tap, wash basin tap, toilet and other cold water taps in the second floor. Last branch of the rising main stores cold water into a storage called cold water tank in the loft.

To provide hot water, the cold water from the tank flowed into a boiler in the second floor called hot water tank. Pipes from the hot water tank branched to feed the hot water taps. The first branch flowed water to the taps in the second floor (the nearest ones). It feeds the hot water tap of the bath sink, wash basin, and other taps in the second floor. The second branch of the hot water pipe comes down to the first floor to feed the hot water tap of the sink and others in the same floor.

Surely Unique

Saksang is simply defined as “a pork dish cooked in pork blood”. Actually, it isn’t that simple. Saksang is one of the Bataknese dish. It would be served in almost every event of Bataknese because most of their rituals include meal.

The original saksang contains pork meat, pork blood mixed with spice such as onions, pepper, ginger, chilly, and andaliman. Andaliman is a specific spice which create the unique taste of saksang. We can find amount of this plant in Tapanuli, where Bataknese came from. Saksang is usually served as chopped meat in thick soup of spicy blood.

There are kinds of saksang. If you don’t eat blood, saksang for “The Parsubang “ would be proper for you. When you’re not able to eat pork meat, the main component can be replaced by dog meat or beef meat, etc. There are also some receipts of modified saksang. Receips that made for those who want to eat saksang without eating blood. The thick soup of blood can be replaced with amount fried coconut pieces cooked with certain spice.

Water Distribution in a house

Water distribution in a house is quite simple. It starts from main water supply. It is located beneath the house. The water is still cold. This water is distributed to sink, bath, toilet and all of the house stuff using water through plumbs. Besides that, the water is also kept in the cellar as a stock. Because the water in this stock is still cold, the water will be moved to another stock. This stock will be turned into hot water through some kind of process. After that, the hot water is available to use. Before it is used, the water is kept in the hot water tank. All of this distribution steps happen all the time whenever the water is used

Maimoon Palace, Landmark of Medan

Istana Maimoon is a palace located in Medan. It is located in northern side of Deli River. This palace was built in an era of the ninth Sultan Deli, Ma’moen Al-Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah in 1888. the design was made by a Dutch soldier, Captain T.H. van Erp. This 2,772 meter square building is built in a land with length 217 meters and width 200 meters.

The palace is designed in a Malay traditional style with Islamic pattern. The building has three parts; the main building, left wing, and right wing. The main building is opened for public and the other parts are used for home of the family of Sultan Deli. This palace has two floors. The building is strengthened by eighty two stone columns which have eight sides, forty three wood columns which have a shape like a boat and some columns with a shape like shoe of horse.

Gado-Gado

Gado-gado is a traditional dish in Indonesian cuisine, and comprises a vegetable salad served with a peanut sauce dressing. It is widely served in hotels and restaurants in Indonesia, and in Indonesian restaurants in other countries, although some opine that the mass-production nature of commercial catering, where food is cooked in bulk at the beginning of the day, has ruined the quality of the dish. The main ingredients are vegetable salad and peanut sauce dressing. With the exceptions of the eggs and the potatoes, the salad may be served raw, although optionally one may blanch some of the vegetables such as the cabbage and the cauliflower. Some cooks prefer to steam the vegetables. The thing that distinguishes gado-gado from a plain vegetable salad is the peanut sauce dressing, which is poured on top of the vegetable salad before serving. The composition of this peanut sauce varies, as well. Some say to just use a commercial Indonesian peanut sauce or satay sauce. Others say to make the sauce oneself. The ingredients of sauce peanut are ground fried peanuts with most of the oil drained off (for which some substitute peanut butter and peanut oil), garlic, palm sugar, red chili sauce, lemon or lime juice.

The water source of this house is from the underground. It means the house use ground water. It was raised perhaps by a machine. After that, the water runs through pipes and is sent to cold water tank at the roof. Before, it reaches the tank; some water is flows to bath, wash basin, and toilet. In cold water tank, the water is in storage. From this cold water tank, the cold water is sent to hot water tank. In hot water tank, the water is heated up into hot water. After that, it is sent to the sink, bath, and wash basin. It means, the inhabitant can use hot and cold water from the bath and wash basin.

Water Distribution

Water distribution at the house starts from main water supply that has cold temperature. The water draws itself up to the sink at the first floor, bath, wash basin, and toilet at the second floor, and also the cold water tank at the cellar.
From the cold water tank at the cellar, the cold water distribute itself to the hot water tank which turns the water temperature from cold to hot. When the water gets hot, again, distribute itself to the sink at the first floor and also the bath, wash basin, and the toilet at the second floor.

The cold and the hot water

The cold and the hot water distribution process in a house isn’t as complicated as we thought. First, the water comes out from the mains beneath the house, the cold one for exact. Then, this cold water is evenly distributed through the plumbs toward the sink, bath, wash basin, and toilet at the first and the second floor of the house. Meanwhile, at the same time, some of this cold water also making their way into the cold water tank which located over the ceiling to be kept as the cold water stock. This cold water stock is meant to be transformed to hot water. But before that happened, the cold water must first be placed to the next tank, the hot water tank. It’s because the required heating processes occurred there. Then, after the cold water has reached the hot water tank, the heating processes begin, and as usual they takes some times. At last, the hot water becomes available and stocked at that tank. Finally, the hot water can be used by the owner of the house through the water tap of the bath, sink, and wash-basin. The steps of this water distribution happened all the times in the house whenever the owner uses the water, either the cold or the hot water.

Good.

Bika Ambon , My Hometown’s Speciality

Bika Ambon is a sort of plain cake which has a sweet taste. It looked fibrous in the middle but flat at the upside and downside, it’s yellow in colour. Bika Ambon is one of the Indonesia’s special food. Although the last name of this cake was derived from one of the city at the eastern part of Indonesia, Bika Ambon was originally acknowledged as the special food from Medan. The first Bika Ambon was made by an Ambonese at around 1960. This Ambonese went back to Indonesia with his tasty and worthwhile recipe after wandering for years in Malaysia. But he didn’t go back to his hometown ‘Ambon’ , he left Malaysia for Medan. Since then, Bika Ambon became popular among the Medanese, it is often bought as a gift, it was also well known for its sweet taste and its good-smelt aroma. Bika Ambon is made from the mixture of yolk, sago, sugar, thick coconut’s milk, water, yeast, and tuak (traditional fermented palm wine) which is then heated at a high-temperature oven. The original aroma of Bika Ambon is pandanus, but nowadays, they have been provided with other fine taste and aroma, like: durian, cheese, and chocolate.

my hometown

My hometown is Pekanbaru City. Pekanbaru City is the capital city of Riau Province. It is located in the center of Riau Province, and has a low land for its topography. It is usually very hot during the dry season. At this time, the wind is very dry, but the air is moist with oil. Bit when the rain season comes, it is usually causes flood in some area in the city. It is usually happens to places near the Siak River.
Pekanbaru city is one of the cities with the highest income in Indonesia. Because as the capital city of Riau province it has the responsibility to take care of the finance for the oil of Riau province (Riau has two of the biggest oil company in Indonesia). This may be one of the reasons that this city is developing very fast than any other capital city in Sumatra (with the exception of Medan). It is now beginning to build many high building and working to become a developed city.

Things That I Like and Dislike

When we are living our life, there is always things that we love to do, bit there is also things that we hate. In this essay I will tell you the one thing that I truly love and the one thing that I rather not do.
If you are talking about me, it wouldn’t be complete if you’re not talking about my addiction to football. I adore this game. And I have been in love with it almost my whole life. When I am playing football my entire world seems to stop and my mind just sets on scoring score after score. It becomes a place where I can forget all my emotions, problems and just forget about what’s bothering me. In another way it is where I run to get help from the complication of my life.
Football is so important in my life. It has been like my one to friend who can help me all the time. Even if u asked me to compare this game to my girlfriend, I would still say football is my number one. I love my girlfriend but I’m sorry to say that I love this game better.
For the thing I hate the most is studying subjects that requires calculating numbers, like mathematic, chemistry and physic. It is complicated and makes my head dizzy. It requires so much thinking and it makes me very frustrating when I can’t understand the equation. Maybe that is why I chose to major in architecture where my imagination is more important rather then my numeric capability.

What I like and What I Don’t

Basically, I like to do outdoor activities. It is more fascinating to do outdoor activity since I can see and learn more. However, it doesn’t mean that every outdoor activity is my favorite activity. There are some activities which I like most and there are some which I don’t.

Traveling is one of my favorite outdoor activities. Since I just moved into a new city and a new environment, I am eager to know more about the city. It encourages me to travel around the city. From my journey, I found that there are many new interesting things which I never seen before in my hometown. Then I start to memorize it by using camera and until now taking a picture on the situation around this city has become one of my favorite activities during my spare time. Besides that, I also discovered many things about the local people culture or about their daily attitudes. I found that there are some differences between the local culture and my hometown culture and until now I still adapt into the new culture. Recently, I realized that traveling around the city has become an important activity since it can bring me many advantages.

In other hand, I rarely want to go to plaza or shopping centre since I don’t think I have any favorite activity at there. However, it doesn’t mean I never want to go to plaza. Usually I go to plaza when I got something to buy or something to search. If I don’t have any purposes at there, I will rather go to more interesting places or just stay at home.

Good, thanks for posting.

Travelling

Travelling is one thing I like to do. To travel means I can go to
one place to another. It's not really matter whether I go on a
holiday or not, but it's the feeling of being in new environment
that makes me excited, especially when I'm able to go with
some of my closest persons.

The thing I love the most about travelling is discovering new
places and cultures while in the same time experiencing new
things also. For example when I went to a small village in West
Java, I could see what they did for a living in real life or talk to
them about their daily activities. When only watching it could
make me happy, getting the chance to experience one day or
more in a different way as I usually did was happier. I was able
to sleep in their house made of bamboo and woods, eat
simple but delicious food, and see their gathering in night. They
were so nice and open to new people, a kind of attitude I
would like to develop in the future. That's why I felt my
journey was important as it could teach me values of life.

Good. Thanks for posting.

things i like to do

There are many things that I like to do. I like to play the computer, watch TV, eat snacks, and also shopping.

When I am at home having nothing to do, I like to play computer or watch TV. I usually open the internet and play, if not I usually play games on the computer like freecell, solitaire, pinball, hearts and also minesweeper. Sometimes I am lazy to turn on my computer, so I watch TV instead. I like watching DVD’s, movies, music and other things that are good to watch.

The next thing I love to do is shopping. I like to go shopping to Melawai, ITC, Kings and other places where the stuff aren’t so expensive. I usually go shopping with my friends and also with my mom and my cousins. I also like to just go window shopping to the malls. I really like to just go out of my house and walk around malls.

Another thing I like to do is eat. I really like to eat, especially eating snacks. Sometimes my friends and family are impressed seeing how much and how often I like to eat. My stomach gets hungry quickly, that’s I like eating snacks. Sometimes I can eat four times a day and eat snacks a lot.

There are still many things I like to do. Probably the things I wrote are the most things I like doing. This is all I can say about the things I like doing.

Good. Thanks for posting.

Draw to Realize

I like drawing and sketching. Those activities can make my mind imagine something unreal. I love imagine something, somehow I called myself as a dreamer. I like to draw something since I was in playgroup. When I was child I have interest in picture that full of color, unique and different from the other. At that time I knew it as ‘abstract picture’, actually I do not know the real mean of it I like to drawing something on the wall, writing something, like what I have done in the morning, what I have seen before, just to remember something I have done. I like to use crayon at that time, for me, crayon can express my idea and full of color, I do not like to use pen or else. Drawing something means imagine and express my idea on a paper or another media, I love to have fantasy, but don’t judge me as a ‘dreamer only’, someday I want to make my dreams come true. I also love to sketch someone, I like to remember someone by sketch him or her. I have trouble to remember someone’s name, for me it is easier to recognize someone by imagine something’s unique from his or her, therefore I like to sketch someone. When my friends have birthday, if I can not give them something special, I made picture of his or her. May be the picture isn’t similar enough to his or her face, but I love to do it, to make my friends feel happy in their birthday, I do not know if they were happy or not, the important thing is I have try to make them happy with my picture. I do not have good skill to draw and sketch something but I would like to try to make my skill in drawing better. Therefore when I was in junior high school I like to participate in competitions and events, actually the result is not make me happy, make me disappointed. I never win in those competitions, but at least I have more experience and my skill become better. In senior high school, I never join in any competition, drawing is just my hobby, only to have fun, and fulfill my time when I felt bored with my activities. Then I choose architecture when I graduate from senior high school, to make one of my dream comes true, ‘drawing something become real’ not only in my mind, I would like to make people know, “those buildings, I ‘draw’ them, and I make them become a real thing”. Drawing for me is realizing my mind in real form.

Good work, bravo.

Anime, suki ka?

My hobby currently is watching Animes. Animes with certain genres of course. I like animes that has deep meaning inside its story.
One title of an anime I watch currently is Ouran High School Host Club. Its kind of funny. Well, not a standard funny if you want to know. The funny is more like a Japanese kind of joke. I got a hard time understanding these jokes.
I mentioned that I like animes that has deep meanings. In this luxurious high school based anime, the main male character is an obnoxious person that is really kind to rich and luxurious ladies and harsh to commoners. Though, he is kind of an idiot (not in grades). In his idiot ism, he controls his friend as a king of a host club--a club where handsome guys who have time treats ladies who also have time as a host serving their guest. In this club, everyone shares their pain, sorrow, and happiness. When the king wants to break up the club without good reasons, the member of the club rejects it and finds out what has happen in their friendship.
In some animes, you may found a devastating storyline. But also beware because animes also holds Japanese culture. Therefore, their culture is different from ours. Especially in drinking, smoking, and such perverted stuffs.
There are lot more animes that surpass the quality of Indonesian electronic cinema. I suggest, those who love to watch electronic cinema but realize the fact that there are lots of negative thought inside some of it, try watching animes. Well, its just a suggestion but...

Good work, thanks for posting.

Dislike what other like? Or like what other dislike?

Well, everyone surely has different things to like and dislike. But Some people share the same likes or dislikes. A group of people likes to hear music. A group doesn't like to hear.

For several things such as music, movie, TV show, and drama's, I dislike what common people like. And I like what common people dislike. This way, I could understand different things that common people doesn't know.

It may be odd for some people to hear what I like and dislike. But let us see things this way, some people may notice that they gain something from what they like or dislike. If we like things different from others, we may find another point of view, it may be a wider point of view or a narrower one.

For example, if we like listening music we may get interested in playing music, yet sooner or later we will get ourselves sitting next to a piano or handling a guitar. Therefore, if we like to hear some music genre that is not much liked by others and if we can be patient enough, we could understand why a minor group of people would like some music genres that is not liken--even thought as a weird music--by common people.

To like or not to like something usually doesn't depend on one's thought about the thing. Sometimes we like something before we think about it. But if you take on my liking preferences as an example, you will find it as a contradiction towards the theory above.

I think before liking something. Who's asking the question of my preference? Why is he/she asking it? Then I'd usually answer it contrary to what commoners answer. Then, I will begin to find a way to like what I've answered.

To me myself, understanding these facts really depresses me. Such weird way of thinking do actually exist in my mind. To me, I don't really understand why I like something.

Just to mention, my liking these days--J-Dramas, Animes, J-Music, and lots of Otaku stuffs-- starts to be similar to more people's liking each day. Maybe someday I have to find another thing to like and change my liking. Or, maybe I have to find another way to like my liking. Not by searching a reason to like it. Like others, I want to like something with their pure heart. The pure feeling formed by witnessing something for a few times, or even once. The pure feeling to not reason why do we like something!

Good thought.

I am fond of reading. I like reading a bibliography books. Bibliography book is a book which consist a person life’s story. It tells you about how a person can reach their success and how a great person can rise up from their failure. Bibliography is different from a comic book, which mostly just to be an entertainment. It doesn’t same as a novel, which can make you crying. Bibliography teaches life’s lesson. From this life’s lesson, you can get wisdom. So, bibliography gives wisdom to the reader.
I love reading a bibliography book because it gives life’s lesson and wisdom. By reading bibliography, you can be more wisely to act in this world. From bibliography book, I have gotten a precious life’s lesson, hard work. All of the bibliography books, that, I have read until now, has a same teaching. Every bibliography books teach you that the most important thing to get success in this life is hard work. From Soeharto’s bibliography until Bill Clinton’s bibliography, teaches about hard work. They offer same key to open the success door, hard work.

Good work.

Story Mode?

'A Study in Scarlet', Sir Arthur Conan DoyleThe thing I enjoy to do when I have some good free time is reading stories. By reading them, I can spend my free time in better way than lazing around without doing anything. I can also expand my knowledge because some stories give me new things about the world that I did not know.

There are two kinds of stories I like to read. The first kind is fiction stories that are written by their original author, like novels or one-shot stories. It is really easy to find them. I just need to go to the bookstore and then buy some books that I think are good to read. The second kind of stories that I like to read is fiction ones that are written by fans of the first kind stories, which are called fan-fictions. These fan-fictions are commonly founded in websites, whether it is official or unofficial one, but in few countries some of them may get published by certain publisher.

'Kokoro', Souseki NatsumeTalking about my favorite fiction author, I cannot say who for there are too many to think about. Therefore, I usually divide them based on their genres. For ‘romance’ stories, I like the romantic scenes that are written by Habiburrahman El-Shirazy and Katayama Kyouichi. For ‘tragedy’, Shakespeare’s and Osamu Dazai’s works are very good to read. For ‘mystery’ stories, I would nominate Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edgar Allan Poe, and Edogawa Ranpo as the best mystery maker. For ‘adventures’, I can say that Mark Twain, Darren Shan, J.K. Rowling, and J.R.R Tolkien write some good stories that can make me feel absorbed to their world. For the ‘fairytale’, I really love Andersen for his originality in making one. And then, for ‘life-matter’ stories, Souseki Natsume, Fahri Asiza, and Donny Dhirgantoro are my favorite authors.

Maybe for some other people, my fondness about stories is a bit boring, but still, I like it very much that whenever someone talk about them with me, I will get really exited.

Good work.

I Love Watching Music Performances

As a music lover, I’m interested in watching live music performances. There are some reasons why I love doing it. First, I can directly meet the artists and watch their real performances, especially if the artists are well known and their songs are great. Second, attending music performance can be a reunion time since many of my friends excited in watching it as well. Third, I can enjoy the music with other audiences so we can sing along or even dance together. Forth, watching it is both relaxing and joyful. Thus, it is always interesting whenever I get a chance to attend the music performances.

The best concert that I have watched so far is BoyzIIMen’s. The concert was started by performance of Glenn Fredly and Ello. After their performances, the concert was delayed for two hours due to BoyzIIMen’s coming late. I was quite upset and so are the other audiences, but when BoyzIIMen appeared on stage, we were extremely exciting so it was worth waiting. BoyzIIMen performed really well and made us sang along during the concert. The best song that BoyzIIMen presented was Song for Mama, because the light was turned off and we were ordered to turn on the light of our cell-phones and raised them so the cell-phones were like shining stars in the venue. In conclusion, BoyzIIMen successfully created a romantic and unforgettable moment that night despite the two-hour delay.

my music, my friend

My hobby is listening to the music, because music is meaningful. The lyrics, the tones, and all of the other parts of music have a mean and bring some messages. It can be a media to express our feeling. So it’s not just a sound, but for me it is a living poem.
I like many kinds of music, depend on my feeling at that time. When I am sad, I usually listen to mellow music, such as Take Me to Your Heart by MLTR, Alive by Jennifer Lopez, Gomenasai by TATU, Hero by Mariah Carey, or sometimes I listen to classic music too, although most of the teenagers like us are not interested in listening classic music. When I feel happy, I usually listen to cheerful music, such as Sweet Dream by Jang Na Ra, Stars Are Blind by Paris Hilton, Intuition by Jewel, etc. When I am doing assignments I usually listen to hip hop music that can make me conscious, e.g. Tokyo Drift, All about Us by TATU, My Band by D12, etc.
I have a special experience with music. When I was in Senior High School, I got depressed and I didn’t know whom I can talk to. At that moment, unintentionally I heard Losing Grip sung by Avril Lavigne, and I was attracted with that song. Then, I bought her album. Every time I remember my problems, I listened to the songs in that album. By listening to those songs, I felt like there was someone accompanied and understood me. Since that time, I consider music my friend in every season.

Very good.

things I like and dislike

things i like is chatting on the internet. i can spend many hours just for chatting. With chatting, i can make friend from all over the world. Chatting is also good to practice my english, because when i have chat with people in other country, i use the english. Sometimes, i feel saver to tell secret to my cyber friend when chatting because we dont know each other. Cyber friend from chatting are also very entertain me, because they sometime say unusual thing. But I will never dare to meet my friend from cyber world.
In other hand, I really hate calculus. I think it is very hard for me to understand it. Besides, i really find a difficulty in calculating. To see the objects and symbols in calculus really make me feel dizzy. In addition i really hate to remember many formula in the calculus .I really seldom get a good scores in calculus, but most of my friend can get good score easily. That's why I really hate calculus.

Things I like and I don't

Basketball is one of my favorite sports. When I’m bored, I can lose that feeling by playing basketball. It also makes me healthy. I love it because I can get more friends. I really like it when I score. It makes me proud. There is so much passion when I play basketball. Basketball can make me feel very happy when I won but also very anxious when I lose.

The other things that I like is watching movie. I usually watch movie on weekend. I like it because it can improve my English. I also like it because it makes me think the purpose of life. I learn many things from watching movies. Movies can entertain me when I’m sad or bored or confused.

I don’t really like to read novel. I don’t like it because it has so many letters without picture. And usually the story is very long so it took me many days to read it. Especially romantics novel. Usually the story line is the same. And sometimes I can’t really get the ending.

Good work.

To see deeper

Drawing is how to see things in a different way. For me, drawing is how to see things in detail. Seeing an object, think of it, then translate in on to a media. It is an activity that involves your eyes, brain, and also your hands. Eyes to see object, brain to make a creativity about the object, and hands to create an image on the media.

I love drawing because of it’s freedom. When you desire to create a drawing on a media, no one could rule you what to draw. It is something personal that every person could make a different drawing about an object. Drawing is part of art. In art, no one could give exact measure about right or wrong. It is just about relativity of human sense.

I draw since I was a little girl. Ever since I was able to hod a pencil, my mother often give me pieces of paper to draw on or to write on. I used to draw everything that I saw in a simple way. I drew many things. For example, I drew nature scene that I saw when I walked around in the morning, other object is living things, I drew my mother, my cats, trees in front of my house, and so on. I drew all of that with my on perception. I do not care whenever people understand or not.

Now, I am studying in architecture field. In this field we make a lot of drawing. But, there are some differences with those that I made before. In this field, drawing is to communicate. I have to able to make people understand my drawing. In the other word, now, I have to make a drawing in a certain context. There are some rules.

Even now I make a different kind of drawing, I still love drawing. It is something amazing for me when I am able to built a shelter for people by my drawing.

Good. Thanks for posting.

Things I Like and Dislike

Bekasi, Jakarta and Yogyakarta

Hometown for me has several meanings. First, hometown is the place when me and my family live and spent our daytimes. Second, hometown is the place that my grand mother and the other of big family live. Third, hometown is the the place where my parents came from. Bekasi is the answer for the first meaning. My house is in Bekasi. My parents and my siblings live there. It is the place where I used to live before study here, in Bandung. From the second meaning, Jakarta is the the answer, because most of my big familiy live in this city. And from the third meaning, the answer is Yogyakarta. It is the city where my father come from.
Bekasi is my first hometown. It’s near Jakarta, and it usually called the satelite city, because it supports Jakarta. Now Bekasi is on the move. It can be seen by the shopping malls and the hotel in the center of the city. They are: Metropolitan Mall 1&2, Mega Bakasi, Hero Plaza and also Hotel Horison.
Jakarta is my second hometown. I was born in this city 18 years ago. Jakarta is a very crowded city, but nice. It is fulled with hustle and bustle and it is absolutely polluted. But one thing about Jakarta that differs it from other city in Indonesia is the name of “Metropolitan City”. Jakarta takes the most important city in Indonesia because it is the center of Indonesian government where all of the policies, laws and regulations related to Indonesia made.
Yogyakarta is my third hometown. It is a famous as one of the main tourism and destinations in Indonesia. It’s absolutely a beautiful-cultural city. Where you can see a lot of cultural heritances like ‘Keraton’, museums, temples, etc. I also like the people of Yogyakarta because they are nice and friendly.
Besides the rich of the cuture, Yogyakarta also has several well known names. They are ‘City of Gudeg’ and ‘City of Students’. It is called city of gudeg because Yogya is very famous for this traditional food, Gudeg is a very delicious food consits of vegetables, eggs and even soybean curd. Named ‘The city of student‘ is because there are so many school and universities there, both private and state.
I rarely go to Yogyakarta, maybe once in a year during the ‘Lebaran holiday’. Last time I went there wason November 2006. It was quiet different from the last time I saw. As we know, in May 2006, Yogyakarta was shocked by an earthquake. , and that what made it different. In some places, there were so many historical sites collapsed and damaged by the earhquake. For example, part of Prambanan Temple, Keraton etc. .
I was very sad. I had several families there, and fortunately they were all right. After all, Yogya is still Yogya. Their spirits and willingness to rebuild Yogya is remarkable. They are tough and strong-hearted man. So I hope the people Yogya can totally get up and together rebuild our beloved city.

Good work.

I love sports

I like to do some sports. I don't know why, I only fell happy when I do sport. From what I read, when you do some sports your brain produces a hormone called endhophrin more than normal. It makes you feel more relax and make you forget all problem that you face.

From elementary school until high school I join basketball school team. At elementary school we never win because we don't have basketball coach, we only have school teacher who like basketball and would like to teach us.

At Junior highs school I only joined school team on first and second grade because I stopped play basketball at third grade, I was concentrate for final exam that day.

I joined my high school basketball team only for one year, because the distance between my house and my school is too far and the practice is finished at seven o'clock.

Today, futsall is my favorite sport, I play almost every week at night. I make friend with many people since then.

Good work.

Jakarta, my city

I have been live in Jakarta since I was born, but when I was in elementary school I moved to Bekasi to get closer to my school. I stayed in Bekasi until I graduated from junior high school, then I came back to Jakarta.

Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, that's why all kind of activities like economic, politic, and security are controlled in Jakarta. But, the most bad thing about Jakarta is it's crowded traffic. People from other city surround Jakarta come ever morning to go to work, they drive their own car. Jakarta is also has a predicate as the third city with polluted air in the world.

Jakarta also has many entertainment place like malls, ancol, dufan, etc. People in Jakarta are very consumtif and the investors know about this so they built hundred of malls all over Jakarta. If you visit Jakarta don't forget to visit ancol and dufan, you won't get regret.

Please see what other students have posted about home town.

What I Like and What I Don't Like

Thing that I don’t like most is waiting. Waiting is such a bore. Especially when I have to wait without doing anything in quite a long time. Spending half of our time with doing nothing, that’s worthless and bores me a lot. That’s why I don’t like waiting. I much better like to be waited than to wait.

The other thing that I dislike is being forced. I’m not the kind of girl that you can easily to be forced. Because in my opinion, if I don’t like something, so why do I have to do it? Even though I know that thing is good for me but if I don’t want to, I won’t do it. I just don’t like being forced. The only person that can force me are my mother and my lecturer because it’s related to my duties as a human and a college student.

Those are some of my dislike things. And what do I like?

There are many things I like to do. One of it is reading. I’ve been addicted to books since when I was a child. Because my mother used to buy me comic books when I was a child. So I get use to read until now. My favorite reading is still comic. I just can’t have fun without it. I read story about romance mostly. But I also read about comedy, fantasy, gangster, and anything but epic. I just don’t have an interest in epic. Beside comic, I love to read novel too. My favorite novel is Harry Potter. Nothing can beat it. Moreover, I’m a fan of Sophie Kinsella’s novels. I read many of her books.

I’m really fond of hanging out with my friends too. I do a lot of things with my friends just to have some fun. I watch movie together, karaoke together, chat about anything. That’s what girls usually do. Having fun is what I really like most.

Need more details.

Like and Dislike

I like doing many things, depends on the purpose. When I got bored, I like to spend my time watching movie, reading novel, and doing a window-shopping. It is relaxing and fun to do.
When I was happy, I like hanging out with my friends, cleaning out my room, and doing my assignment. It will done better, because I did it with pleasure. It would be different if I did it when I was in a bad mood.
When I got confused and depressed, I like to get over it by crying, eating chocolate, and share my problem to my best friends. They usually can give me the way out, and help me solving my problem.
The things I do not like are getting a bad mark, being ignored, being alone, and especially waiting someone who is late. I know that I am not the most on time person in the world, but at least I never late for more than 1 hour. It is so boring, waiting someone for 2 hours alone and has nothing to do.
Those are the things that I like and dislike.

Drawing Freak

Academic Writing 08: TASK 2

I like drawing any stuffs interest me. Those are manga, graffiti, and architecture buildings. It's all because each of them has special unique identity. Manga visualizes people and everything around in cartoon or simple style. Graffiti is just kind of single word art in colors, but by using scale, we could enlarge it and stick it on the wall. Architecture got special characteristics in drawing lines, rendering materials, coloring shapes and so on.

There is a chronological story about how they come into my life and be my lovely object to be drawn. They arrived one-by-one since i was in primary school, high school until now in the institute. First of all, the story began when American cartoon 'Walt Disney' influences kids in 90's. Afterwards, used to draw each of it's freaky animal. I was getting more interested in cartoon. As the time goes on, a new comer cartoon from Japan called 'Manga' interests me more than 'Walt Disney' does. Having my self studied in high school, another art for teenagers attracts me. Day by day, i learned from experience and got my drawing skill upgraded to be able to create graffities. I love to do such a thing like that. Eventually, architectural art shows me different side view in the artistic of buildings. That's why i wonder how to create buildings in the context of architectural art. Besides, that's my own duty to study architecture in ITB now.

Good work, thanks for posting.

I Love Bandung !!!!

I really love my hometown, bandung. There are two reasons why i loved my hometown, the foods and the buildings.

Foods in Bandung are incredible. You won't get starve if you live in Bandung, because here you can find food anywhere and anytime. The choice are vary, from traditional food to international food. And the price are also vary from the cheapest one to the most expensive one.

The heritage is another thing abou Bandung that makes me proud of my hometown. Bandung has so many beautiful old historical buildings like Gedung Merdeka, gedung Sate, Villa Isola, etc. Those buildings mostly winesses historical moments that very impotant back then.

I hope those amazing things I love about Bandung will always exist. Because Bandung without its icon and landmarks are nothing.
I LOVE BANDUNG VERY MUCH !!!!

Good work, thanks for posting.

Listen to The Tranquil Whisper of The Madame Nature

I am an architecture student in ITB. Being in my first year in my undergraduate programme which I call it as adaptation year, and burdened by a lot of tasks everyweek, surely I can sometimes get exhausted and bored. Moreover when I miss my hometown, I can really get stressed. So, sometimes I can really feel depressed.

Considering about this fact, I one-hundred-percent know that I need to refesh myself whenever I get bored and depressed. Then I start to join outdoor activities, such as outbond, since I find out that indoor ones (watching, listen to music, playing games in computer, chatting, etc) already have no effect fo me in effort to entertain myself.

There is once when I joined my friend to have an outbond, I walked alone in mountains and felt so pleasure. From that day, I know what I really need to do when I start to get bored and depressed. From that day too, I start to love this activity, to walk in mountains. In the same time, I can totally get refreshed and find inspirations. Not only that, by walking in the mountains, I feel closer to the nature, get fresh air, and see the great natural beauty. The most important for me is that walking alone in mountains provides me the serenity of the great nature of our amazing world.

Until now, I am still falling in love wih this simple activity. My mind will always become calm and fresh as I walking around in the mountains, breath in the fresh air, look at the green scene, and listen to the tranquil whisper of the madame nature.

Parisj Van Java

Bandung known as Parijs Van Java since 1920. At the first time, bandung was known as the city where the European live. The European whose live in Bandung run their life just like when they are in Europe. They still depend on their culture as if they were in Europe among our native traditional culture. Their house, their way of life, food, even their dress just like the other European whose live in Europe. It was happened when jaarbeurs, in other word, we could say as Pasar Malam in Indonesian language. Event where people gathering together at Aceh street, it was full of live music, theater, drama and else. The event held in June to July every year. Not only that, Braga street is also the reason why Bandung known as Parisj Van Java. There are lot of building designed and built by European Architect. Architect called it as Art Deco, just like we seen in Gedung Sate. At Braga, people buy and sell dress and other commercial thing those were famous in Europe too. Neither in the morning nor in the evening, Bandung full of European people do their activity, because of that, Bandung known as Parisj van Java.

Bandung is also known as city with full of special culture that makes it become the city where tourist spent their vacation. Not only from outside, Indonesian people, especially whose not from west java, like to spent their vacation in Bandung. In 80’s, bandung was known from its “Kelom Geulis”, honestly, writer did not know about this thing. In 90’s, center of jeans, Cihampelas and also center of shoes, Cibaduyut, become the place that most people visited just to have some fresh air or walking around to have a nice weekend. Also Cibadak mall that provide shirts, trousers, and other dress with cheap price. And now on, Bandung known as heaven for who love shopping, with its factory outlets, those sell fashion needs and other wardrobe for people who really care about how to be fashionable. Not only factory outlet, there are also distribution outlet those sell wardrobe with touch of “creativity” from the young. Bandung is well known as place for who want to try many weird food, weird because not all of the food is available in other province of Indonesia. Food like batagor, oncom, peuyeum, keripik, and brownies. That is why Bandung become place where people like to spent their vacation.

What I like

There are numerous things that I like to do in my spare time, drawing sketches and listrening to musics. I like to draw sketches because it can keeps me a way from boredom. When I feel bored, I could just grab myself a piece of paper and a pencil and go outside to find a perfect object and just sketch it. i don't know how it works but when I sketch, I feel like I'm in a world when I can do anything. I feel like I'm the one who has the authority to make my own new object without hurting the old one.
The second thing that I like to do is listening to musics, because it can help my head to just relax for a while. Listening to musics also helps me to concentrate when I'm studying and keeps me busy when I'm bored.

Don't Ask Me to Swim

There are so many things I like doing. Activity I like doing the most is reading novel. I like it since I was in the first grade of junior high school. I always do it in my spare time. Even though I like novel, I don’t read all of the kind of novel. I don’t really like easy-read novel such as teenage novel. I like novel about mystery because it can make me feel that I am a part of the story. I also like novel about reality, such as ‘A Child Called It’ by Dave Pelzer.

Beside activity I like doing, there is activity I hate doing. Activities I hate doing are waiting and swimming. Waiting makes me bored. It’s better for me to do something while I am waiting than doing nothing. Reading while I am waiting makes me feel better. I don’t like swimming because I have a trauma. I ever drowned myself when I was in first grade of high school. Since drowning, I don’t want to swim anymore.

Good work, thanks for posting.

What I Like And Dislike

What I really like doing is reading. There are three reasons why I like reading. The first is that reading doesn’t need much energy. When we read a book or something else, we just need or stand, don’t need a move. We put our mind and our eyes on what we read. Next reason is that reading can improve your mind. By reading, whether we realize or not, our knowledge can improve by itself, particularly when you read newspaper or magazine that report about events around us. The last reason is that reading can be done anytime and anywhere we want. It doesn’t need any preparation. It doesn’t need any special time or place.

What I really hate doing is waiting. Waiting needs patience and time. Coincidentally, I don’t counted myself as person with patient nature. It makes me feel boring and wasting time. Besides, it wastes my emotion because I always keep asking myself to be patient to keep waiting.

My Hobby Is...

My hobby is having a tour. The tour maybe a trip to the other city, such as a trip to Jakarta or Yogyakarta. It can be a tour in the outskirts of city. The tour can be only walking around the city, like walking around in the centre of Bandung.

There are many things to do and to get when I having a tour. Taking picture from my trips is my favorite activity, because I like to be a photographer. At the moment I having a tour, there will be somebody who being my new friend. When I getting bored, walking around the city can refresh my mind and give me some kind of fun. The most important thing that I can get from having a tour is the new experience, it is make my knowledge wider.

Good work, thanks for posting.

Letting Go With Music

Most of the things I like to do involves with music. Those things include, playing music instruments (either playing solo or in a band), singing, and dancing. I like doing those things because they give me the opportunity to let go of any feelings I have and then somehow help me to relax.

Singing and playing guitar helps me to let go of my feelings. Sometimes when I am happy, sad, angry, or just when something is bugging me, I play and sing songs I like with my guitar or play random chords on my guitar and humming some notes. I never quite make the humming and the random chords into a song, but it helps me to let go of my feelings so that I can feel more relax.

Dancing also gives me almost the same sense of relaxing and expressing myself but in a different way. For example, one time, I came into my dance practice feeling very tired and gloomy. I didn’t want to come to the practice but I had to because we were about to perform in a week. When my dance teacher played the music, I started to feel like dancing. I dance through the routine and I felt that I could let go of my gloom and tiredness through the dance move. I felt freer.

Swimming everyday

One of the things that I like the most is swimming. I started doing it since i was in elementary school. I was about 8 years old at that time and now I am 19 years old. At first, i practiced swimming only for keeping my health. But day by day i practised, my coach thought that i had a potential to be an athlete. So i started to practiced everyday, at morning and at afternoon.
Practicing everyday made me stronger and faster. I also joined many competitions and won in some of them. But this regular habit and regular activity also made me feel bored. Besides, i also leaved some activities that i liked only for concentrating in swimming. Finally, when i was in the third grade of junior high school, i stopped practicing and leaved anything about swimming. It didn't happen long. I can't hate swimming. I still like swimming although I don't practice everyday as an athlete. That's why I joined a unit of swimming in my campus called URPA. In this unit, I can practice swimming again although it just for fun, not for fight.

Good work, thanks for posting.

My Favorite Sport

Softball is my favorite thing. I’ve been playing softball since I was twelve years old (now I’m eighteen years old). Softball is played by groups, so I absolutely have to join a team if I want to play softball. I will have a coach and some partners. I and the other players in my team have to work together harmoniously so I can play well and win the game. I have to be nice and understand each other. I find many different person characteristics there. I have to reduce my ego. If I can’t work together with the others or my team doesn’t like me, I won’t be chosen to play by my coach no matter how expert I am. I have to be discipline. If I come late than the exercise schedule or when we have a match, I will inflict not only me but also my team. Because in softball players have different position that can not always be substitutes by other players.
I got many things from softball. I learn so much here. I learn to understand other people, I learn to reduce my ego, I learn respect the others, I learn to be sportive, and many other things. The most precious thing that I’ve been taught from softball is “we have to fight and work hard for something that we want to reach”. My teammates, my seniors, and my coach now seem like my real brothers or sisters. I share many things with them. They sometimes give me some advice for my problems. So I guess, I got not only friends but also a family here.
Softball is my favorite thing, but being alone is a thing I hate the most. I hate waiting alone, I hate walking alone, I hate eating alone, etc. I always try not to being alone. Maybe it makes me love to knows each other and love to make friendship with everyone. The most thing I’m afraid is “when I’m sad there’s no one to share my cry with, and when I feel very happy there’s no one to share my laugh with”

Good work, thanks for posting.

(What I Love Doing) My hobby

Everybody has a hobby, whether it’s playing sports, listening to music, or even studying. Each of those hobbies is enjoyed by different personalities. Artsy people usually are interested in music or poems, active people usually like sports, lazy people usually likes sleeping, and so on.
I am one of the artsy people. That’s one of the reasons why I’m into making poems. I get inspired by so many things in life and I really love expressing them by writing poems. For me, poems are the best way to pour art and passion.
The other reason why I love making poems is that it gives me a chance to show my personality or more precisely, the other side of me that my friends or family have never seen. For example, in real life I am a very easy going girl and I live life in the simplest way you can imagine. But in my poems, you can see me as a really deep and very confused person. This means that a poem can show whether the person who wrote it is skeptic or positive-thinking, emotional or patient, hateful or lovable, mature or childish, or even a living dreamer.
One thing about poem writers is that they usually have a lot of thoughts. Some even have too many thoughts that they see this world in a too dramatic way, which is a negative impact for their personality.
Other than that poems are so effective in expressing my feelings. It can give me a chance to tell people how I feel, without even thinking how I say it and whether people would understand it. By writing poems, I can express my feelings in a disorganized way, write the most illogical thing and it could still be called an art because those poems are inner feelings of a writer. We can’t lie because there are some feelings inside us that are hard to understand that not even we could understand. So when I pour those feelings into poems, I can show people how my real emotions are.
As you can see above, making poems is one of the things that I love doing. Hope you can see how passionate I am about it and why I am.
